The Giffoni Film Festival: since 1971 cinema has been dedicated to youngsters
July 19th, 2007Views:1521
This year again, from 12th to 21st July 2007 the Giffoni Film Festival opens with its programme that is rich in events and films. For 36 years now this festival has been a reference point for the cinema created for young people and has promoted it from the marginal position it had once to the rank of quality “genre”.
The fundamental GFF mainstays are: the jury, that judges the films of the competition and is composed only by youngsters (of an age between 6 and 19, divided into 4 sections, according to the age brackets) and the town, where the festival is organized, Giffoni Valle Piana.
In these last years the festival has become popular as an event that means quality, but also as a cultural firm that produces films in collaboration with schools and theatres.
This year’s topic is the border, meant to be a possibility to reflect about boundaries in a deeper way, “trying to cast our look and our heart beyond that boundary line that is sometimes thin, sometimes like a wall, sometimes liquid and some other times solid, as the stone on which time impresses its passing” and every event will be organized with this point of view.
As usual, actors and singers of the national and international scene will accompany the various days of the festival.
There is nothing left to do, apart from wishing you to enjoy the films and the possibility to watch the festival close to!
