The last It-Schools publication in the section Travel&Culture is about the town of Olbia, an important touristic destination when you want to visit Sardinia and to contact the rich landscape of the island.
Olbia, an ancient Phoenician and Carthaginian centre, offers you the possibility to appreciate the ancient St Simplicio basilica, both from the historical and the artistic point of view, since this is the only monument in Romanesque style which is present in Gallura. Then you will also have the opportunity to visit the renowned Archeological Museum.
Moreover, Olbia attractions are represented by the several destinations and possibilities offered by the territory around the town, that is rich in naturalistic beauties, as the Maddalena archipelago, the sea parks of the Tavolara island and Cape Ceraso.
The most important events in Olbia are bound to the religious feasts and the most important one, for the inhabitants of Olbia, is the one in honour of St Simplicio (the town’s patron saint), that also includes songs and traditional dances.
Besides the beauty of the place we recommend you to enjoy the variety and the deliciousness of the Gallura cooking, with its dishes of meat and fish and its wines with a unique scent.
We can now wish you a good travel to Sardinia, with the possibility to appreciate an Italian island that is unique, thanks to its beauty and its traditions.
