Today we want to talk to you about the last It-schools’ publication: it is about the town of Nicotera, an Italian patrimony of Calabria that you can find in the Travel&Culture section. Nicotera is called the “The Tyrrhenian Sea Gem” because of its position on the Tyrrhenian Sea and the natural beauties of its territory.

Besides being an important touristic centre, Nicotera offers to its visitors the possibility to know its historical and cultural origins through some characteristic monuments, as the Ruffo Castle and its Cathedral, as well.

On the other hand, the old town centre, that dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries, is particularly interesting from the artistic point of view, besides the museums (The Civic Museum, the Centre for the studying of the Rural Society, the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art).

The most important events in Nicotera are bound to the Saints’ feasts, as the one of the Holy Madonna of the Assumption (15th August), the feast of the Madonna of Rosario and St Francis’feast-day, during which they organize some very interesting events and village fairs.

Finally, after having admired the splendid beaches, you must taste the rich typical cooking of the territory, with its fish courses (the marinara tunny or the fried shrimps), the meat courses (the pork meat holds a place of honour in the cooking from Nicotera) and the tasty sweets, based on almonds and hazelnuts.

Now we wish you to discover Nicotera as soon as possible and to appreciate another wonderful and incomparable part of Italy!
