Arezzo, in Tuscany, will give hospitality to the precious works by Piero della Francesca (1412-1492), which are gathered together in the State Museum of Medieval and Modern Art of the town, from 31st March to 22nd July.
At the same exhibition you can also find, with his works, the masterpieces of other artists who influenced his work done or were inspired by his art, as Domenico Veneziano, Pisanello, Leon Battista Alberti, Jacopo Bellini, Luca Signorelli, Rogier Van der Weyden, Pietro Perugino and others.
The aim of the exhibition is to point out the most meaningful elements of Piero’s art, starting from the works that he carried out in his places of origin then by reaching the ones bound to his stay at the Italian courts.
This artist gave a fundamental contribution to the culture of that period through his art, since he influenced the local painting of the different courts where he stayed (the Baglionis’ Court in Perugia, Cosimo il Vecchio in Florence, the court of Este in Ferrara, the Malatesta Court in Rimini, Rome and Urbino).
In Piero’s works the colours and rythms of Arezzo’s lands come back to life and disclose the deep relationship of the artist with his place of origin and its atmosphere.
Moreover, Arezzo offers the opportunity to visit, other famous works of this artist as Maria Maddalena and the cycle of the Leggenda della Vera Croce (The Legend of the True Cross), which are present in, the Duomo and in the St. Francesco Basilica.
While you are visiting the exhibition, you can have the possibility to make a fascinating journey that will start from the places of origin of Piero and then will accompany the visitor among the Renaissance courts, by reconstructing their atmosphere, their protagonists and their exchanges and meetings through the master’s character and the comments of his art.
