Cremona la dolce (Sweet Cremona)

For two consecutive days (from 18th to 19th November 2006), the nougat is becoming the absolute protagonist of Cremona, which is dedicating to this typical local product a well-organized and full of surprises festival.
This event, named “Cremona la dolce” (Sweet Cremona), uses nougat as symbol and puts together the gastronomy, the culture and the artistic crafts of the town.
Its schedule is varied and involves many areas of the town: a nougat cake, in the shape of “Torrazzo”, is going to be built (by Sperlari) in Duomo square. It’s looking like the cake created to celebrate the marriage between Bianca Maria Visconti and Francesco Sforza, in 1441 (the nougat’s Italian name, “torrone”, just derives from “torre” (tower) and “torrione” (keep)).
We advice you, of course, to go to the historical recalling of the old marriage with a wedding banquet and a closing celebration, complete with a distribution of dessert to the people attending the festival.
Another interesting activity, within the festival, is the project “Le piccole guide” (Little guides), organized by the Cremona children Laboratory.
Just the children (with their teachers) will be visitors’ guides, through special itineraries, to go in search of the history of Cremona.
