We think this relatively young event is curious. It takes place since 1977 in Gardigiano di Scorzè, near Venice, just in May.
Strawberries and asparagus, with their dishes to be enjoyed in happy company, are the stars of this event.
We all know strawberries because of their taste and their fragrance, which suits dessert such as “risotto”.
On the other side, it seems that Greeks and Romans loved asparagus very much. Later asparagus were put aside during the Middle Ages and in 1500 went back on the nobles’ table as very expensive food.
So, from 5th to 14th May the gastronomic appointment, for those who want to give a warm welcome to spring in an original and amusing way, is with strawberries and asparagus. If you will go to Gardigiano di Scorzè, let us know how it is!!
