Maybe we desire to see the first flowers sprouting as soon as possible, or maybe we are tired of winter, so we are gladly thinking about the arrival of spring.

The “Lume a Marzo” (“Light at March”) festival, that will take place on 5th March in Castrocaro, in the Forlì-Cesena province, will offer you the chance to start get ready for the arrival of a warmer climate and so to make spring favourable.

The above-mentioned light is a nice bonfire, that is lit in order to light up the way to March, bringing spring, and, at the same time, burning winter with all its negative aspects.

This fire is considered a magical rite, following Castrocaro’s Medieval history, that reminds the soldiers’vigils in the castles round the campfires, when they whiled away the time, playing dice and waiting for night passing.

So if you love the Medieval period and want to spend a different day, tasting a little mulled wine among walkers-on wearing Medieval clothes and spring fires, the “Lume a Marzo” (“Light at March”) is right for you.

We invite you to inform us more about this festival and also to let us know if there are any other traditional celebrations of this kind in Italy and abroad… You’re thinking we are curious…well, that’s the way it is, when it’s about culture and tradition…
